Hi All
Following the success of the TdY launch in City Park the other week, and subsequent discussions with a whole raft of people involving all aspects of cycling activity, it is clear that 2017 is to be a pivotal year for cycling in Bradford. This of course includes hosting the start of Stage 3 of the Tour de Yorkshire itself followed very soon afterwards by the prestigious national Cycle Cities Conference, as well as all of the huge amount of cycling-related activity that goes on in the district in every way, shape and form.
A “Bradford Cycling Summit” is therefore being organised on Tuesday 17th January with an open invitation to everyone we know who’s involved in cycling in any way in order to set the collective scene.
It will take place at in the Banqueting Hall at City Hall from 6.30pm until 9pm.
This will not be a detailed discussion but more of an information-sharing and future action and ambition-planning opportunity to highlight and show-off things like TdY, Cycle Cities Conference, CycleBradford Strategy, Active Bradford Strategy (and Bradford Sports Awards in February), CityConnect infrastructure and investment, Bikeability, Cycling Hub development (including City Centre), Cycling Clubs, Competition, Cycling Events, Bike Libraries, Active Tourism, Campaigns, Retail, Off-Road stuff, etc, etc, etc.
As part of it there is an invitation to everyone involved in cycling in Bradford in any way just to submit a few lines about what they’re doing and what they would want to see “beyond 2017”.
It’s very important that this is fully inclusive, so do spread the word! I hope we can also film it so that it’s available on u-tube for folk who can’t make it on the night.
An outline agenda and more details will be sent out to everyone early in the New Year.
Have a great festive season in the meantime!
Best wishes,
John
