Sky Ride Local in Bradford
Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.
Join us on this easy 4.8 mile ride on the Spen Valley Greenway between Bradford and Cleckheaton. This greenway ride boasts great views and trailside sculptures in a traffic-free environment, starting out at Victoria Park on Cleckheaton Road in Bradford. The greenway follows the path of the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway – keen-eyed individuals will spot the LYR boundary stones and other artefacts from this line. It has recently been converted into a dedicated cycle track, part of Sustrans’ National Cycle Network Route 66, from Dewsbury to Low Moor. The current track is a freshly laid one and is a nice, steady route with not too many uphill challenges. There’s a stopping point at Tesco in Cleckheaton, where you’ll turn back for Bradford.
This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 66. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).
