The University of Bradford Cycle Sportive, 50 miles for 50 years, is to raise funds for the 50th Anniversary Scholarship Appeal at the University of Bradford, and is being run in partnership with Cycling 4 All and British Cycling.
You can choose from two routes.
The first is a 50-mile challenging entry level Sportive suitable for keen cyclists and those who have completed some training to prepare for the challenge. This route includes parts of the 2014 Tour de France and the 2015 Tour de Yorkshire routes.
The alternative route is an easier 50 kilometre challenge with fewer hills, suitable for all cycling enthusiasts who have completed some basic training in preparation for the challenge. If this is your first time to attempt a Sportive, lead riders will be available to escort groups.
Date
The Sportive is a one-day cycling event which will take place on Sunday 25 September departing outside the Richmond Building on the main University campus.
Routes
The 50 mile route will start and finish at the University of Bradford’s City Campus and will follow this route. The Sportive will start between 8.30am and 9am and is expected to take between five and seven hours to complete.
The 50 kilometre route will also start and finish on the University of Bradford’s City Campus and will follow this route. The Sportive will start between 9.30am and 10am and is expected to take between two and four hours to complete.
Cost
A non-refundable registration fee of £30 is required. Students and those who are fundraising for the 50th Anniversary Scholarship Appeal can enter at a discounted rate of £20. Your registration fee covers:
- A University of Bradford Cycle Sportive: 50 miles for 50 years t-shirt (available for collection when you register on the day)
- Free parking at the University
- Free bike check on arrival
- Free shower at Unique gym on completion
- Food and memento at the end of the challenge
Once registered, you will receive your welcome pack.
Parental Consent
If you are under 16 years-old you must have written parental consent prior to the event, and the parent or responsible adult may need to be present on the day. Please complete the parental consent form in your welcome pack.
Fundraising
For those who opt to fundraise for the University of Bradford 50th Anniversary Scholarship Appeal, you need to raise a minimum amount of £100 per individual before any Gift Aid is added. 100% of the sponsorship fund will need to be raised before departure.
